Aspera Drive Mobile
2014 Aug - 2015 Jan
Aspera Drive mobile is a file sharing app used to upload, access, and preview files in the cloud, helping users be more productive on the go. I led the entire user experience design including user research, interaction design, and visual design.
Design GOals
I defined two main use cases from conducting customer interviews. First, media directors and producers need to preview media files, like storyboard images, on their mobile device immediately to tighten feedback loop. Second, content providers who deal with time sensitive content, such as news, need to upload photos or videos taken from their mobile devices.
Based on these use cases, I focused on following design goals.
Process
I created information architecture, wireframes, product workflows, low-fi and hi-fi prototypes to help drive the design. I also tested interactive designs with customers to improve usability.
Browse, Preview and Download
With Aspera Drive Mobile, users can browse shared folders and preview media files in the cloud. Users can also download files on their mobile device, allowing viewing the files offline. The app also indicates when a newer version of a file is available in the cloud, so the users can update it.
Upload and monitor transfer Status
Users can upload photos and videos to the cloud. After initiating a transfer, the user can always monitor ongoing transfers and view transfer history in the transfer tab.
