Fit Together
January - may 2014
The goal for this project was to develop a healthcare service for the elderly by using persuasive interaction design principles. Our team tackled a health care issue that lots of senior people deal with on a everyday basis - staying active. Many elderly people want to do regular exercise, but they often lose motivation to continue or lack tools to effectively achieve their goals.
Our research revealed three key insights. First, lots of elderly people often get motivation for keeping active from group activities and support. Second, it is hard for the elderly to find right person to exercise together because elderly people's health status and capability for exercise tend to have rapid divergence as they are aging. Lastly, technology itself is not very helpful to change their behavior; humanized technology enhances the real impact.
Based on our insights, we created a design concept named Fit Together, helping the elderly find perfect workout groups to make the exercise more fun and effective. Our team focused on providing three key values: facilitating workout with group support, integrating broader healthy behavior into exercise activity, and accelerating workout effect by social goal and advice.
